Job purpose
To plan and supervise blending and filling operations under toll blending companies (3rd party contract) related to production of lubricants, greases, speciality oils etc. Coordinate with toll blending companies under ADD contract to ensure smooth and timely production of required products as per production schedules in coordination with sales, planning and lube stores in a cost effective manner. To arrange receipt of base oil, additives by dedicated blending companies and delivery of bulk finished lubricants. Maintains and updates ISO 9001 quality assurance document for lube, grease and chemical production plant. Manage storage and distribution operations of GRP-III base oils to ensure maximum value generation for base oils trading business. Manage in house production of ADNOC Blue.
Key accountabilities
Production planning
Assists blending companies in organizing blending and filling schedules, using information from the weekly production programmes prepared by the planning engineer, showing the expected sales of export and local products.
Coordinates with blending companies to prepare and issue daily lube and grease blending & filling program in accordance with weekly production program provided by planning engineer.
Receives daily bulk delivery plan from the lube stores and planning engineer.
Blending, filling & grease manufacturing operations
Prepare monthly COGS for all the lubricants and greases in line with the framework of toll blending operations agreements between ADD and 3rd party manufacturers.
Work out monthly, weekly, daily materials requirement planning to release the production orders to toll blenders for timely production of ADNOC finished lubricants, greases and speciality product.
Oversees daily lube blending and grease manufacturing operations and bulk deliveries to ensure compliance with ISO 9001-2015 and quality control. Supervises operation of toll blending companies and monitors daily production output.
Arranges the issuance of raw materials and packing materials from the stores to the toll blending companies for daily production activities and in the SAP system for timely updating the production and materials movement transactions.
Ensures that the correct formulation is used for lube blending and grease manufacturing in accordance with set formulas by comparing with the Quality Control Laboratory samples.
Supervise and oversee the withdrawal of samples of finished products (lubes, industrial oil, speciality oil, grease) from the kettles and sends to the laboratory for testing. Coordinates and follows up with laboratory for quality testing and obtains necessary quality control approval before starting any filling operations. Arranges any necessary adjustments to be made, such as further blending.
Oversees the blending process to ensure that the ISO 9001-2015 quality control procedures are adhered to at all times, during the blending, filling & grease manufacturing of products.
Oversees and provides guidance in managing the overall filling operations as per the daily bucket, drum etc. filling plan. Monitors and ensures that staff adheres to quality and safe working procedures during the filling operations.
GRP-III base oils operations management
Lead the GRP-III base oils terminal’s activities, according to regulations and company’s procedures.
Maintain the appropriate operational standards, ensuring compliance with the management systems, procedures, local/global standards and legislation.
Manage supply procedures, such as the GRP-III vessel discharge operation, storage and truck loading operations.
Check and control product volume, inflows/outflows, and overall loss/gain of GRP-III base oils being stored at the terminal.
Work actively with the terminal’s employees for adherence with the agreed terms and conditions of the base oil storage agreement.
ADNOC Blue operations management
Lead the inhouse production operations of ADNOC Blue in line with ISO 22241.
Manage timely supply of urea solution from FERTIL.
Off-load and store raw materials as per quality and safety standards.
Manage filling operations of ADNOC Blue as per sales requirements for timely supply to ADD customers.
Slow moving product management
Coordinates for any necessary adjustments to be made, such as further blending. Ensures reblending of slow or non-moving lube grades by coordinating with the laboratory and quality control, in order to produce better selling grades, reduce waste and promote savings.
Inventory control and reconciliation
Oversees the daily, weekly and monthly dip taking of the base oils and additives storage tanks by using the calibration records for each tank to check the volume and temperature, in order to calculate the correct quantity to ensure that there is sufficient material available to meet requirements.
Oversee preparation of daily base oil and additives stock statement, showing the existing stock of bulk material by listing how much is in each tank and type of product.
Raw material receipt and stocking
Arranges and oversees the receipt, sampling and discharge of bulk liquid additives containers and ensures that delivery discharge is into the correct tanks. Checks the quantity and quality then makes the goods received notes manually for approval by department manager and for submitting to the lube stores.
Oversee the receipt of the product from vessel including deciding on the discharge sequence, gaining approval from the vessel master, checking of quality prior to unloading, pigging to eliminate contamination between products, ensures that documents are checked to ensure that the quantity delivered corresponds with the bill of landing etc.
ISO audit management
Undertakes ISO coordinator duties for the Production Optimization Department and assists the department manager with control, distribution and disposal and upgrade of related documents.
Ensures the timely completion of non-compliance reports and attends review meetings in order to address any shortcomings within the division.
Performance monitoring and reporting
Monitors the budget and continuously reviews manpower and operating expenses of toll blending operations, transportation costs, inventory losses etc.
Continuously reviews the various cost elements/heads and develop & drive initiatives for increasing productivity, reducing the overall cost of operations.
Ensure updating of daily production details in system. Uses this information to prepare daily blending reports, monthly stock statements and other reports as required, such as consumption of each ingredient etc.
Facilitates in preparing and reporting strategic business objectives/initiatives with the help of balanced scorecard methodology and acting as balanced scorecard coordinator.
Expansion and new projects
Coordinates and follows up with EPD on the progress of any new projects concerning the lubricants and ensure that all the necessary support is provided at location for their timely completion.
Participate in project reviews like HAZOP, HSEIA, HAZID and risk assessment etc. as and when required.
