Emerson is seeking an Engineering Co-op student to join their Quality department in Marshalltown, IA. This role involves assisting with various quality department tasks, collaborating with the Quality Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Quality Engineers on special projects, and working in both office and production floor settings. Responsibilities include supporting continuous improvement efforts, increasing inspection accuracy and efficiency, and improving inspection processes and CMM programming. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate engineering student with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and experience in a team environment.

Requirements

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Expand your technical and professional skills in a real-world setting. Emerson co-ops are given meaningful work, support, and mentorship from experienced managers and key business leaders. There is the potential to gain knowledge and experience in a variety of ways by exploring opportunities associated with your major and rotating through multiple departments.
Collaborate with other engineers, teams, and departments to develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges
Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements
Lead and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects
Attend department, team, and project meetings as necessary
Complete projects as assigned by Quality Manager

For This Role, You Will Need:
Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided
Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and PC skills including Microsoft Office
Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
College status of a junior or senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
Six months generalized work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
General Lean Manufacturing knowledge
