This is a highly technical role focused on designing the aircraft's flight control system architecture and supporting the successful certification of safety critical avionics. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will develop the detailed flight control system, define flight control architectures and produce the certification artefacts required for DO-178C DAL A compliance. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of a next generation aircraft from concept through certification. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed avionics and fly-by-wire flight control system architectures. Design triple redundant flight control computer architectures, including voting logic, monitoring and cross-channel communications. Define flight control modes, system states and transition logic for normal and degraded operating conditions. Produce Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and systems integration documentation. Develop DO-178C DAL A certification planning artefacts, including PSAC, SDP and SVP. Collaborate with systems, software, hardware and safety engineering teams. Support aircraft certification activities and regulatory compliance. Apply ARP4754A/ARP4754B systems engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle. Provide technical leadership across avionics and flight control system development. Requirements: We are looking for an experienced avionics and flight control systems engineer with extensive experience developing safety critical aircraft systems for certified aerospace programmes. Essential Requirements Minimum 12 years' experience in avionics or flight control systems engineering. Proven experience designing fly-by-wire flight control systems for certified aircraft. Experience developing triple redundant flight control computer architectures. Strong knowledge of DO-178C DAL A software certification. Experience producing certification planning documentation including PSAC, SDP and SVP. Experience authoring Interface Control Documents (ICDs). Strong understanding of systems engineering and multidisciplinary integration. Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience applying ARP4754A or ARP4754B. Experience with eVTOL, rotorcraft or advanced aircraft programmes. Experience with over actuated flight control systems. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Systems Engineering or a related discipline. Salary: GBP 80,000 to 90,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
