Requirements
Requirements MBBS/MD or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution. Recognized postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry. Consultant-level qualification/board certification recognized by the relevant UAE medical licensing authority. Relevant post-specialization experience in Psychiatry. Strong experience in assessing and managing complex psychiatric and mental health conditions. Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, ethical, and patient-centred approach. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary mental health team.
Description
Our leading healthcare facility in the UAE is seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join its multidisciplinary mental health team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with a wide range of mental health conditions across outpatient and inpatient settings, as applicable. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including clinical interviews, mental status examinations, and risk assessments. Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, OCD, PTSD, personality disorders, and substance-use disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications based on clinical response and patient needs. Provide crisis intervention and manage acute psychiatric presentations and emergencies when required. Provide ongoing outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care as applicable. Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness, medication response, and potential adverse effects. Provide psychotherapy, counselling, psychoeducation, and behavioural interventions within the physician's qualifications and scope of practice. Assess suicide, self-harm, and other clinical risks and establish appropriate management and safety plans. Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, counsellors, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and other medical specialists to ensure integrated patient care. Educate patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication adherence, recovery, and relapse prevention. Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical documentation. Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education. Contribute to mental health service development and clinical governance activities. Supervise and mentor junior medical staff where required.
