Key activities, responsibility & accountability Management of the radioactive waste management (RWM) facility program Responsibilities and accountabilities: Provide support to achieve the objectives and deliverables of RWM division. Lead the RWM Facility Program to develop, plan and implement the RWM division initiatives, milestones and programs by providing advice and support. Serve as an intelligent customer to ensure effective technical and operational site activities, including siting, characterization, construction, and operations planning for the RWM Facility. Develop plans and procedures to ensure efficient and timely execution of RWM Facility site activities. Ensure alignment and compliance. RWM facility site conditions and environmental assessment Responsibilities and accountabilities: Engage key stakeholders such as the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and FANR, to ensure compliance with requirements of environmental impact and environmental safety assessments for radioactive waste management facilities. Coordinate interface activities to ensure effective collaboration between ENEC-RWM and RWM Facility Development contractors/partners. Guide site characterization and monitoring to ensure accurate input into environmental impact statements (EIS) and environmental safety assessments (ESA). Provide site condition data and information to support environmental management, geo-technical input and information important to safety case development. Radioactive waste management facility development – program management Responsibilities and accountabilities: Act as program manager to ensure effective planning, initiation, and execution of relevant project/program plans for the RWM Facility Program. Provide project control support, including scheduling, project risk, budget and reporting to ensure effective program execution. Provide input to ensure comprehensive facility design and safety assessments by coordinating closely with internal and external stakeholders, partners and contractors. Radioactive waste management facility licensing requirements Responsibilities and accountabilities: Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and requirements associated with the siting, management and disposal of radioactive waste. Engage with FANR and Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) to ensure effective development and operation of the radioactive waste management facility program. Support the development of license applications and ensure adherence to license conditions. Develop and coordinate responses to relevant requests from FANR and EAD by ensuring compliance with the licensing process and other relevant requirements from regulatory bodies. Stakeholder engagement Responsibilities and accountabilities: Provide support and input to ensure the effectiveness of the RWM Division’s stakeholder engagement and communication plan. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to foster productive and collaborative relationships. Prepare and present progress updates to relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and awareness of the radioactive waste management program. Professional certifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant science subject. Preferred: Master’s degree or a PhD in a relevant engineering/science field.
