Role overview
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment supported by experienced consultants, psychologists, therapists, nurses, allied health professionals and modern diagnostic and treatment infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Assess, diagnose and manage patients with a wide range of psychiatric, psychological and behavioural health conditions.
Provide consultant-level care for depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, PTSD, OCD and other mental health conditions.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, risk assessments, mental status examinations and treatment planning.
Develop and monitor individualised treatment plans including pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy referrals and other evidence-based interventions.
Manage acute psychiatric presentations, crisis situations and patients requiring appropriate referral or higher levels of care.
Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, treatment response and long-term mental health outcomes.
Provide psychiatric care for adults and other patient groups according to scope of practice.
Coordinate care with clinical psychologists, counsellors, therapists, neurologists, primary care physicians and other medical specialists.
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication safety, relapse prevention and ongoing mental health care.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation, informed consent, confidentiality and patient safety standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and mental health service development.
