Lab Chemist – Lubricants Manufacturing

Full-Time Position | UAE

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lab Chemist to join our lubricants manufacturing operation in the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing, analysis and quality control of raw materials, in-process blends and finished lubricant products.

The role requires a hands-on laboratory professional with strong knowledge of lubricant testing, laboratory procedures and applicable industry standards. The Lab Chemist will work closely with Production, Quality Control and Operations to ensure that every batch meets the required technical specifications before release.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of base oils, additives, blended lubricants and finished products.

  • Perform routine physical and chemical analysis in accordance with approved test methods and specifications.

  • Test key lubricant properties including viscosity, viscosity index, density, flash point, pour point, water content, TAN, TBN and other relevant parameters.

  • Inspect and test incoming raw materials to verify compliance with approved specifications before production use.

  • Conduct in-process testing during blending and provide technical recommendations when adjustments are required.

  • Test finished products and confirm compliance with product specifications prior to release.

  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and assist in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), laboratory reports, test results and batch records.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, testing procedures and related documentation.

  • Ensure proper identification, handling, storage and disposal of laboratory chemicals and samples.

  • Support Production and R&D activities involving formulation, blending trials and product development where required.

  • Ensure high standards of laboratory safety, cleanliness and housekeeping.

  • Conduct testing in accordance with relevant ASTM, API, SAE and other applicable lubricant industry standards.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure full traceability of samples and test results.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Laboratory Chemist / Lubricants Lab Chemist, preferably within a lubricants manufacturing, blending or oil-related environment.

  • Strong practical knowledge of lubricant and petroleum-product testing methods.

  • Experience with laboratory instruments and equipment used for viscosity, density, flash point, pour point, water, TAN/TBN and related testing.

  • Good understanding of ASTM test methods and lubricant specifications.

  • Experience in raw-material inspection, in-process quality control and finished-product testing.

  • Ability to investigate OOS results and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.

  • Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality Control, Operations and Maintenance teams.

  • Good laboratory safety awareness and disciplined approach to chemical handling.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in lubricants blending and manufacturing, base oils, additives, automotive or industrial lubricants, petroleum laboratories, or oil testing laboratories will be strongly preferred.
