Description
The Head of Nursing is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination
of the nursing department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in
accordance with DHA regulations, UAE healthcare standards, and the medical center’s policies
and procedures.
The position requires a strong nursing leader who can manage the nursing team, maintain
clinical standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate effectively with physicians and
management. Nursing Department ManagementLead and supervise the nursing team and oversee daily nursing operations.Ensure adequate staffing and effective allocation of nursing resources.Prepare and manage nursing duty rosters and staff schedules.Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, performance, and productivity.Delegate duties and responsibilities appropriately among nursing staff.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.Identify staffing and operational requirements and report them to management.Patient Care & Clinical StandardsEnsure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.Monitor compliance with approved clinical policies, procedures, and nursing standards.Ensure proper patient assessment, documentation, medication administration, and follow-up.Monitor patient safety and take immediate action when clinical concerns arise.Promote patient confidentiality, dignity, and professional standards of care.Investigate and follow up on patient complaints or nursing-related incidents.DHA & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure nursing practices comply with DHA regulations and requirements.Maintain compliance with applicable UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.Ensure all nursing staff maintain valid professional licenses and required documentation.Maintain appropriate nursing records and documentation for inspections and audits.Support the medical center during DHA inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements.Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.Infection Control & Patient SafetyEnsure implementation of infection prevention and control policies.Monitor appropriate sterilization, disinfection, waste disposal, and hand hygiene practices.Identify potential clinical and patient-safety risks and implement corrective measures.Report and follow up on incidents, adverse events, and safety concerns.Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.Staff Training & DevelopmentIdentify training and development needs within the nursing team.Provide orientation and training to new nursing staff.Conduct regular nursing meetings and educational sessions.Monitor staff competency and clinical performance.Encourage continuous professional development and adherence to evidence-based practice.Coordination & CommunicationCoordinate closely with doctors, medical management, administration, and other departments.Ensure effective communication between nursing staff and physicians.Participate in management meetings when required.Escalate operational, clinical, staffing, or patient-safety issues to management promptly.Maintain professional communication with patients and their families when required.Inventory & EquipmentMonitor nursing supplies, medical consumables, and equipment.Ensure appropriate storage and availability of essential nursing supplies.Coordinate with procurement and management regarding stock requirements.Monitor proper use and maintenance of nursing equipment.Minimize wastage and ensure appropriate utilization of resources.Quality & Performance ManagementMonitor nursing KPIs and department performance.Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions.Participate in internal audits and quality improvement programs.Ensure proper documentation and reporting of nursing activities.Contribute to improving patient experience and overall service quality.
