Birla Carbon Egypt S.A.E, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Instrumentation Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operations team at our Alexandria plant, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing field instrumentation, process control systems, PLC/DCS platforms, analyzers, and automation systems to ensure operational reliability, process stability, safety, and continuous improvement across the facility.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure high availability, reliability, and performance of instrumentation and control systems throughout the plant.Troubleshoot instrumentation and process control issues and conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and process deviations.Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs for instrumentation assets.Maintain and optimize PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and process control systems.Support calibration, testing, commissioning, loop checking, and validation of field instrumentation and control equipment.Maintain and troubleshoot smart instruments, transmitters, flowmeters, pressure, temperature and level instruments, control valves, and analyzers.Lead instrumentation and automation improvement projects to enhance plant productivity, process stability, safety, and energy efficiency.Participate in Turnaround (TAR) and shutdown planning, execution, commissioning, and startup activities.Coordinate with Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Reliability, and HSE teams to achieve plant performance and reliability targets.Ensure compliance with instrumentation, process safety, maintenance procedures, and environmental regulations.Support spare parts management, vendor interactions, technical evaluations, and contractor supervision.Technical RequirementsBachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.5-7 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering within a continuous manufacturing or process industry environment (Chemical, Petrochemical, Cement, Oil & Gas, Power, or similar).Strong knowledge of:PLC Systems, DCS, SCADA, and HMI ApplicationsProcess Control and Instrumentation SystemsIndustrial Communication ProtocolsSmart Instruments, Flowmeters, Pressure, Temperature and Level TransmittersControl Valves, Positioners, and ActuatorsGas Analyzers and Process AnalyzersInstrument Calibration, Loop Testing, and CommissioningSIS and Process Safety ConceptsExperience with SAP PM, MM is preferred.Knowledge of reliability engineering, predictive maintenance techniques, and troubleshooting methodologies.Familiarity with international standards and best practices such as ISA, IEC, and relevant instrumentation and process safety standards.CompetenciesStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Ability to work effectively under operational and turnaround pressures.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong attention to detail and commitment to process safety.Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on reliability, operational excellence, and sustainability.Qualified candidates who meet the above requirements are encouraged to submit their CV to ([HIDDEN TEXT]), quoting Instrumentation Engineer in the email subject line.
