Network Monitoring & SurveillanceMonitor transmission network alarms through NMS/EMS tools on a 24x7 basisIdentify network events, faults, service-impacting alarms, and performance degradation alertsPerform first-level alarm correlation and prioritization based on service impactTrack node/link down events, path failures, LOS, LOF, interface flaps, power alarms, and transmission degradation alarms2. Incident Handling & Ticket ManagementRaise incidents/tickets for all network alarms and customer-impacting eventsCategorize incidents based on severity, region, service, and technologyMaintain proper updates in ticketing tools with time-stamped actionsEnsure all incidents are acknowledged and assigned within defined SLA timelines3. Initial TroubleshootingPerform basic troubleshooting using SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge baseValidate alarm persistence, flap behavior, repeat incidents, and service dependencyPerform preliminary checks such as: Alarm acknowledgmentLink/path status validationInterface and bandwidth checksPower/environment checks (where tool visibility exists)Reachability checks through monitoring systems4. Escalation ManagementEscalate unresolved or critical alarms to L2 / Shift Lead within defined TATCoordinate with field teams, fiber teams, power teams, and OEM/vendor teams as per escalation matrixFollow escalation hierarchy for P1/P2 incidents without delayInform customer support/service desk for affected services where required5. Communication & CoordinationProvide timely updates to all stakeholders during incidentsMaintain bridge call support for major outages if requiredCoordinate with internal teams for restoration activitiesShare handover notes clearly during shift change6. SLA & Process ComplianceEnsure incidents are handled as per agreed SOP, SLA, and operational processesMaintain proper incident documentation and closure remarksSupport shift governance, queue hygiene, and ageing controlAdhere to reporting discipline and audit requirements7.
