Requirements

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma / bachelor’s degree in engineering / environmental science / industrial safety.

  • Basic safety training (e.g., NEBOSH Awareness / IOSH / OSHA preferred).

  • 0–2 years of experience in construction or industrial HSSE functions.

  • (0 to 2 Mandatory experience in UAE in similar role).

Description
To support the implementation of health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) procedures and guidelines across project sites. The Junior HSSE Officer assists in day-to-day monitoring, site inspections, compliance checks, and documentation to ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Conduct routine safety inspections and report unsafe conditions or behaviors.Ensure workers are using appropriate PPE and following safe work practices.Assist in conducting risk assessments and job safety analysis (JSA).Participate in conducting toolbox talks and daily safety briefings.Help organize fire drills, mock evacuation exercises and awareness campaigns.Support site teams in onboarding and safety induction for new workers.Assist in the initial reporting and documentation of incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions.Support the investigation team in collecting evidence and witness statements.Monitor waste segregation, disposal practices and general housekeeping.Ensure basic environmental controls (like dust suppression, noise barriers) are in place.Maintain daily safety checklists, observation logs and permit-to-work registers.Help update safety signage, records and inspection files for audit readiness.COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Internal:Reports to Senior HSSE Officer / HSSE ManagerCoordinates with Site Engineers, Supervisors, Workers and Admin TeamExternal:May interact with contractors, vendors or local HSSE authorities under supervision.FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:Works under supervision and established HSSE policies and procedures.Has authority to stop unsafe work and report violations to senior HSSE staff.Not authorized to take disciplinary action but plays a key role in observation and reporting.Supports the team in emergency situations as per the predefined plan.
