Position OverviewThe Engineering Work Scheduler is a key member of Etihad Rail Infrastructure's Engineering Delivery Team, responsible for planning, coordination, and optimization of Engineering Hours possessions across the UAE rail network.Reporting to the Engineering Delivery Manager, the Work Scheduler is responsible for developing accurate, efficient, and up-to-date possession plans, ensuring that planned activities, workgroup access requirements, rail vehicle movements, and operational constraints are coordinated in advance of Possession delivery. The role is central to the production of the Daily Engineering Hours Possession Plan and to providing Engineering Controllers with the information and documentation required to manage possessions safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company rules and procedures.This role combines possession planning, stakeholder coordination, conflict management, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on safety, productivity, and plan quality. The Engineering Work Scheduler will act as the daytime focal point for changes to planned Engineering Hours possessions, managing late requests, cancellations, scope changes, and access conflicts, while supporting the wider business through clear communication and effective planning.The Work Scheduler is also responsible for reviewing recurring issues affecting possession performance and contributing to ongoing improvements in Engineering Hours planning and delivery processes.Roles and ResponsibilityPossession planning and coordinationReview the planned possession limits and timings provided in the WETP and align the required access for workgroups, including planning of rail vehicle requirements, and coordination of conflicts, on a weekly basis. Build the Daily Engineering Hours Possession Plan to provide the most up-to-date Possession plan for all staff involved in Engineering Hours.Pre-possession preparationPrepare briefing packs including activity lists, workgroup sequencing, access priorities, route requirements, and any known constraints to enable Engineering Controllers to deliver a briefing that is clean, consistent, and efficient.Conflict identification and deconflictionChallenge timing clashes with train services, excessive PiC density, access conflicts, OTM transit issues, and unrealistic activity durations.Late change managementOwn the daytime coordination of late requests, cancellations, scope changes, and revised priorities from all stakeholders, ensuring that up-to-date information is provided to Engineering Controllers prior to their start of shift.Worksite and resource optimizationSequence works to maximize utilisation of Engineering Hours, reduce wasted access time, and prioritise critical activities when full scope cannot be delivered.Documentation and plan qualityPrepare and quality-check possession plans, briefing sheets, access lists, special constraints, route requirements, and any supporting documents before issue.Trend analysis and improvementAnalyze recurring delay causes, late handback causes, utilization gaps, cancellations, and planning errors, then feed improvements back into the process.Support to business continuityProvide planning continuity to provide a single-point of contact for all changes to Engineering Hours Possessions.Desirable qualifications, skills and experienceAcademic Qualifications: High School certificate desiredProfessional Qualifications:Knowledge of the entire ER NetworkDriving licenseExperience: Experience in railway environment and possessionsOther Skills: Clear, concise communicator in English language — both verbal and written.Proficiency in the use of IT equipment.Good planning skills.Ability to prioritize competing demands in complex possession environments.Strong organizational skills.
