Role overview
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary mental health environment supported by psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. The role will involve the assessment, diagnosis, and comprehensive management of patients presenting with a broad range of psychiatric and behavioural health conditions.
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including clinical history, mental status examination, and risk assessment.
Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions across outpatient and inpatient settings, according to clinical scope.
Develop individualised treatment plans incorporating pharmacological and appropriate psychological or behavioural interventions.
Monitor treatment response, medication effectiveness, and potential adverse effects, adjusting treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
Manage patients with acute psychiatric presentations and provide appropriate risk assessment and intervention.
Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, social workers, primary care physicians, and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care.
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, recovery, and relapse prevention.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with patient confidentiality, safety, and clinical governance standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and mental health service development.
