Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Typically 7–10 years of relevant experience in electrical testing and commissioning, preferably in HV/EHV substations, power transmission, distribution, or EPC projects.
Strong hands-on experience in testing and commissioning of HV/EHV electrical equipment and substation systems.
In-depth knowledge of transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs/CVTs, isolators, busbars, cables, protection and control systems.
Strong experience in protection relay testing, secondary injection testing, functional testing, interlocking, trip circuit testing, and control scheme verification.
Experience with transformer testing, including winding resistance, ratio, vector group, insulation resistance, and other applicable diagnostic tests.
Experience with GIS/AIS commissioning, circuit breaker testing, contact resistance, timing tests, and associated equipment testing.
Knowledge of substation automation, SCADA, RTU, communication, metering, and teleprotection systems is preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical testing standards, safety procedures, LOTO, isolation, and energization processes.
Ability to interpret SLDs, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, control logic, equipment manuals, and commissioning procedures.
Experience preparing test procedures, commissioning schedules, test reports, and handover dossiers.
Familiarity with IEC standards and UAE utility/client requirements.
Experience coordinating with clients, consultants, utility authorities, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant testing/commissioning documentation systems.
Ability to work under pressure and manage critical commissioning activities within strict project timelines.
UAE/GCC project experience is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience with HV/EHV substations, transmission and distribution projects, utility infrastructure, or major EPC projects.
Experience with DEWA, TAQA/TRANSCO, or other UAE utility/client testing and commissioning requirements.
Hands-on experience with protection relays from major manufacturers such as ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, SEL, GE, or equivalent.
Experience with Omicron or equivalent relay and electrical test equipment.
Experience in SCADA, IEC 61850, substation automation, and communication system testing will be an advantage.
Experience leading energization and final handover activities for major power projects.
Professional engineering certification or recognized testing and commissioning qualification will be an advantage.
