Assistant Manager - Marine & Aviation ClaimsThe job holder is responsible to plan and implement claims management strategies and manages marine hull claims under the guidance of Manager Marine (Hull & Cargo) Claims. This job also requires supervision of a team of supervisors to ensure that marine claims are managed promptly in compliance with insurance policies and set company standards, procedures and guidelines.Policies, Processes and procedures:Reviews Marine (Hull) claim policies and procedures on an on-going basis and provide suitable recommendations to assure compliance with Central Bank and Company rules and regulations.Claims Operations:Evaluates claim file quality through appropriate audits.Ensures all claims notified by clients are entered into claims systemReviews the claims processed by supervisor and senior officer and ensure all relevant deductibles, limits are applied correctlyEnsures all claims are processed within the scope and coverage of the policy and in line with institute Hull and Freight Clauses (as applicable)Review the reserves created and ensure accuracy.Ensures the claim strategies implemented by staff are in line with standard operating proceduresEnsures all inbound and outbound claims queries are responded to within agreed SLA timelines.Evaluates the survey report and challenge the assessmentReviews the process of claims including documentation, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, reserving, handling of funds, and equitable settlement.Reviews and analyses claim reports to identify and address trends. Develops and implements strategies to correct adverse trends.Makes decisions on recommendations for claim disposition, including evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims, on complex claims or those with exposure in excess of staff authority levels.Oversees all aspects of the litigation process for high-exposure liability claims to minimize company risk of loss.Prepares and drafts complex legal correspondence to affected parties. Maintain claim files, both physical and electronic. Update files as needed.Provides supervision and guidance to less experienced Claims personnel including the review of settlement payments and denials.Reviews the reports submitted by supervisor and senior officer and ensures timely and accurate reporting to management and other internal clients including summaries of outstanding claims.Performs claims ageing analysis and monitors the settlement of unsettled/open claims.Handles and manages the external loss adjusters/ surveyors.Oversees training and personal development programs within the group.Increases Claim Settlement/Recovery/Disputed Claims track through logical end.Ensures that the Claims staff are following Company procedures and the TAT's are being adhered to as stipulated in the Claims Manual.Reviews marine hull claim reports (regular and Ad hoc)Identify requisite training to the claims staff.Rejection of Claims:Reviews the claims that are declined and ensures to communicate the response to the clients/brokersReviews the complicated claims and provide recommendationsReviews and investigates the suspicious claims for audit and performs investigation.Continuous Improvement:Contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvements of marine claims (Hull claims) processes, systems and practices taking into account the International best practices, improvement of business processes and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.Provides support in designing and developing new tools for effective and efficient claims settlement process.Customer Satisfaction:Ensures to meet the customer service standards and address all claim related queries and increase the customer satisfaction.
