Completes almost any engineering tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the primary discipline engineer or discipline technical authority on projects with small to medium complexity. Performs engineering assignments, usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes design recommendations. Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for coordination of difficult tasks. Applies specific area(s) of expertise in own discipline area. In consultancy businesses, may review and manage complex projects within area of expertise or of a multidisciplinary nature.
