Job OverviewWe are looking for a Steel Structure and Welding Supervisor to oversee steel fabrication, structural assembly, welding, installation preparation, and production quality. You will coordinate teams, materials, equipment, and schedules to meet project drawings, codes, deadlines, and safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily fabrication, structural assembly, welding, cutting, fitting, grinding, and preparation activities.Allocate work to welders, fabricators, fitters, technicians, and other workshop personnel.Review drawings, welding details, material specifications, work instructions, and project requirements.Ensure work is completed to approved drawings, dimensions/tolerances, procedures, and quality standards.Supervise welding using approved processes (e.g., MIG, MAG, TIG or arc welding) and ensure correct welding procedures, symbols, and sequences.Monitor fit-up, alignment, weld preparation, preheating, interpass temperatures, and post-weld requirements.Inspect completed work, support weld inspections/NDT, and manage corrective actions and documentation.Track material and consumable availability, equipment readiness, labour productivity, rework, and progress.Maintain daily records for production, manpower, inspections, and material usage.Ensure workshop safety, conduct toolbox talks/inspections, and enforce hot work controls, PPE, and environmental requirements.Support training, competency development, and preparation of structures for painting/surface treatment, transportation, and installation.RequirementsTechnical qualification, diploma, or equivalent of 10 years of experience in Welding, Steel Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience supervising steel structure fabrication, welding, structural assembly, or heavy industrial workshop operations.Ability to read structural/fabrication drawings, weld symbols, material specifications, and inspection requirements.Knowledge of welding procedures, welder qualifications, consumables, joint preparation, welding sequences, and weld defect identification.Understanding of relevant welding, fabrication, structural, quality, and health & safety standards.Experience coordinating workshop teams and planning daily activities to meet production deadlines.Competence in dimensional and weld inspection, and awareness of NDT and quality documentation.Strong workshop safety knowledge, including hot work controls, lifting operations, and working-at-height requirements.Good communication, leadership, problem-solving, and basic root-cause analysis skills.Certifications in welding, fabrication/inspection, or safety are an advantage.Required Skills10 years of experienceSteel structure fabrication and assembly supervision.Welding supervision and quality control.Structural drawing and weld symbol interpretation.Fabrication planning, workforce allocation, and production reporting.Weld defect identification, dimensional inspection, and corrective action support.Health and safety compliance for workshop and hot work activities.What We're Looking ForCandidates with practical experience leading steel fabrication and welding teams, including weld quality control and workshop production, will be preferred.
