About the job
Responsible for providing leadership and direction to the chartering team. Plans, coordinates, and participates in the formulation of commercial strategies, considering the consistency of such strategies with the overall organization’s objectives and requirements during all phases of the commercial processes. Provides commercial interpretations, clarifications, and definitions to the direct manager. Develops and controls the preparation and analysis of commercial activities as well as recommends appropriate courses of action.
Key accountabilities
Participates in formulating strategies for tendering (Charter In/Out) to secure award of contracts while ensuring transparency, fairness, and best commercial practices.
Supervises and coordinates commercial team activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
Participates and develops in the planning of short, medium, and long-term business strategies and assists in developing the business unit commercial strategy.
Attends clients’ and contractors’ meetings related to tendering (Charter In/Out) as required.
Supports Commercial Manager in the delivery of department objectives and compliance to processes.
Participates in the evaluation of monthly management reports, prepares summarized reports, comments, and recommends appropriate action plans.
Identifies, in coordination with other commercial sections, areas where performance can be improved, and analyses, strategizes, plans, and coaches them.
Generic accountabilities
Supervision: Plans, supervises, and coordinates all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. Trains and develops the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
Budgets: Provides input for preparation of the section / department budgets and assists in the implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver section objectives. Investigates and highlights any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, systems, processes & procedures: Implements approved section / department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in order to support execution of the section’s / department work programs in line with company and international standards.
Performance management: Contributes to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the section / department in line with the company's performance framework.
Innovation and continuous improvement: Designs and implements new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. Identifies improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, safety, environment (HSE) and sustainability: Complies with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practice.
Minimum requirements
Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum 15 years of experience in commercial and chartering.
Experience in the offshore industry (offshore / onshore).
Regional experience in GCC (with IOC / NOC / EPC).
Understanding of the market trends.
Ability to identify issues and areas for improvement.
Ability to prepare models to assess profitability of identified opportunities.
Ability to develop commercial strategies.
