Role summary
LCM Origination & Distribution would assist the origination process of specific deals throughout the project cycle in close co-operation with the LCM transaction coordinator (Director or Executive Director) and the front office department (client coverage and booking entity), as well as back office departments, Loan Distribution, Loan Execution, Loan Agency and Nikko.
The LCM Origination & Distribution will assist the development of new syndicated financing products for SMBCE to increase product footprint and revenue sources and subsequent distribution to end investors.
The role of LCM Origination & Distribution is to originate, price, structure, underwrite, coordinate, bookrun and execute loans and other credit facilities for government bodies, sponsors (as the case may be), corporates and financial institutions across EMEA and manage subsequent distribution.

Position description
Attend external meetings with clients together with senior LCM colleagues to assist in presenting financing proposals
Prepare team marketing materials, pitch-books and reports to ensure successful promotion of the team's activities both internally and externally
Alongside associates, gather and maintain market data for team use and for internal reporting of market trends to ensure that the team has the correct data for pricing and structuring loans, and to ensure that the team's communication of market trends is accurate and timely
Assist in coordinating the preparation of information packages for syndication
Assist in managing deal syndication through the project cycle to ensure that client and lender financing needs are met in the most efficient manner
Assist in pricing and structuring terms and conditions acceptable to market partners in order to ensure that client financing needs are appropriately met
Assist in undertaking general marketing to potential co-financiers and interact with key officers of co-financing institutions in order to broaden and educate the investor base for SMBC projects, ensuring that clients have the widest options for financing at the best pricing
Assist in managing the external syndication/co-financing process with SMBC's financing partners until closing of a transaction in such a way that it smoothly integrates into the SMBC internal deal flow
Share relevant market information with internal stakeholders to enable bankers to offer competitive products to the bank's clients
Opine on liquidity and pricing parameters
Prepare pricing comments and underwriting applications
Undertake research on borrowers, markets and lenders using Bloomberg, Dealogic, Loan Connector and other information and sources to present in a clear and compelling way
Prepare ad hoc reports upon request
Ensure timely reporting of fees and deal pipelines, including double count applications
Attend internal meetings with RM departments to gain and share information
Contribute to LCM Weekly Report and to the production of quarterly LCM pitch book template in collaboration with Compliance
Together with LCM Distribution, develop and maintain pricing and investor liquidity database
Support all areas of Origination Teams (Corporates, Leveraged Finance, Project Finance) as workflows dictate
Comply with all regulatory and internal policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines
Knowledge, skills, experience & qualifications
Solid understanding of credit, investment and financial analysis and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring, probably gained in (1) a major commercial bank or lender or (2) corporate or project finance group of a major international organisation
Proven business judgement and high ethical and professional standards
Networking skills, and ability and endurance to materially help manage transactions through to their conclusion
Promotes good teamwork
Sound decision-making skills, problem and conflict resolution and ability to participate in teams
Relevant qualification and/or demonstration of further education
