Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or young people with SEND, trauma, SEMH needs, or complex needs, and experience supporting and responding to behavioural incidents in an educational, care, or specialist setting. A strong understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice, with a belief that behaviour is communication and a commitment to person-centred approaches, is essential. Candidates must be calm, resilient, emotionally intelligent, and possess excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills, with a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing. Willingness to undertake CPI Instructor training is also required.

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and highly organised Positive Behaviour Support Assistant to join our safeguarding and behaviour lead.This is a unique opportunity for an individual who believes that behaviour is a form of communication and is passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning through trauma-informed, relational and person-centred approaches.Working closely with the Safeguarding and Behaviour Lead, you will play a key role in supporting pupil wellbeing, promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, and helping to create a safe, inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.The Role The Successful Candidate WillRespond to behavioural incidents across the school using calm, professional and trauma-informed approaches.Support pupils to regulate emotions, restore relationships and re-engage with learning following incidents.Monitor, record and analyse behaviour and attendance data to identify patterns, trends and areas for intervention.Produce reports to support safeguarding, behaviour planning and strategic decision-making.Contribute to pupil risk assessments, ensuring strategies remain effective, person-centred and responsive to individual needs.Facilitate reflective debrief sessions with staff following incidents.Support the delivery of behaviour-related CPD, including trauma-informed practice, de-escalation strategies and behaviour as communication.Assist in monitoring attendance and supporting early intervention for pupils experiencing attendance difficulties.Work collaboratively with education, safeguarding and therapeutic colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.AboutAbout You We are looking for someone who:EssentialHas experience working with children or young people with SEND, trauma, SEMH needs or complex needs.Has experience supporting and responding to behavioural incidents in an educational, care or specialist setting.Demonstrates a strong understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice.Believes that behaviour is communication and is committed to person-centred approaches.Is calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent, even in challenging situations.Has excellent communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing.Is willing to undertake Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Instructor training.Desirable Holds a current CPI Safety Intervention Instructor qualification or valid CPI Blue Card.Has experience analysing behaviour or attendance data.Has experience facilitating staff debriefs, reflective practice sessions or professional development.Has knowledge of attendance challenges experienced by pupils with SEND and trauma backgrounds.What We OfferThe opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with SEN.A supportive and highly skilled multidisciplinary team.Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.A school culture built on relationships, inclusion and positive outcomes for pupils.Fountain Head House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
