The opportunity
Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City is seeking an inspiring, enthusiastic, and accomplished peripatetic piano teacher to join our growing performing arts team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate music educator and performer to help establish and develop the school’s piano provision within a founding school environment. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality one-to-one piano tuition to students across a range of ages, abilities, and musical interests, helping them to develop their technical ability, musicianship, confidence, and enjoyment of music.
You will prepare students for performances, concerts, showcases, and graded examinations where appropriate, while also contributing to the wider musical life of the school. There will be opportunities to support concerts, productions, assemblies, ensembles, and other whole-school events, working collaboratively with the performing arts team to create a vibrant and ambitious musical culture.
As a founding member of the music provision, you will have the opportunity to contribute creatively to the development of the school’s instrumental programme and inspire the next generation of young musicians.
This is a zero-hours contract, with lessons scheduled according to student demand and school requirements.

The role
Job title: Peripatetic Piano Teacher
Reporting to: Director of Music / Head of Performing Arts
Piano tuition & teaching
Deliver engaging, high-quality one-to-one piano lessons to students across a range of ages and abilities.
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs, abilities, and musical interests of students.
Develop students’ technical skills, musicianship, musical understanding, confidence, and enjoyment of playing.
Develop students’ understanding of musical notation, rhythm, theory, phrasing, articulation, dynamics, and interpretation.
Establish strong foundations in technique, posture, hand position, sight-reading, aural skills, and musical expression.
Select appropriate repertoire that challenges and inspires students while being suited to their age, ability, and interests.
Encourage students to develop effective independent practice habits and take ownership of their musical progress.
Maintain high standards of teaching and create a positive, encouraging, and purposeful learning environment.
Examination & performance preparation
Prepare students for graded piano examinations and external assessments where appropriate.
Support students in preparing for school concerts, recitals, showcases, productions, and other performance opportunities.
Provide clear and constructive feedback to support student development and examination preparation.
Monitor individual student progress and identify appropriate opportunities for progression.
Encourage students to perform confidently and develop resilience, discipline, and professionalism as young musicians.
Support students in developing performance skills and confidence across a range of musical settings.
Music & performing arts
Support and contribute to concerts, recitals, productions, assemblies, showcases, and whole-school events.
Provide piano accompaniment for students, choirs, ensembles, or performances where appropriate and agreed.
Work collaboratively with music and performing arts colleagues to support high-quality musical outcomes.
Contribute to rehearsals and performances where required.
Encourage students to participate in the wider musical life of the school.
Support opportunities for students to perform both within and beyond the school environment.
Student & parent relationships
Build positive, professional, and supportive relationships with students.
Inspire students to develop confidence, independence, discipline, creativity, and enjoyment through music.
Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents regarding student progress, lesson requirements, examination preparation, and performance opportunities.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
Celebrate student achievement and contribute to a positive culture of musical development.
Administration & organisation
Maintain accurate lesson registers, attendance records, and student progress information.
Manage lesson schedules effectively and communicate any changes promptly.
Ensure students and parents receive appropriate information regarding lessons, performances, examinations, and other musical activities.
Prepare appropriate resources, repertoire, and lesson materials.
Maintain high standards of organisation and reliability, particularly in relation to timetabling and student appointments.
Liaise with the performing arts team regarding student progress, scheduling, performances, and other relevant matters.
Collaboration & professional development
Work collaboratively with the performing arts and wider school teams.
Contribute positively to the development of the school’s musical identity and co-curricular programme.
Share expertise and ideas that enhance instrumental and wider music provision.
Remain current with developments in instrumental pedagogy, repertoire, performance practice, and music education.
Engage in relevant professional development and maintain high standards of professional practice.
Compliance & safeguarding
Ensure all activities comply with KHDA standards, MOE guidelines, examination board requirements, and school policies.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.
Promote a safe, inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.
Follow the school’s policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health and safety, professional conduct, and student wellbeing.
Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately in accordance with school procedures.
The person
Qualifications and experience
Relevant degree, diploma, or professional qualification in music, piano performance, music education, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience teaching piano on a one-to-one basis to children and young people.
Experience teaching students across a range of ages and abilities.
Strong technical and musical proficiency as a pianist.
Strong understanding of instrumental pedagogy and effective approaches to piano tuition.
Experience preparing students for graded examinations and/or public performances.
Strong knowledge of appropriate piano repertoire across different levels and musical styles.
Experience accompanying singers, choirs, ensembles, or instrumentalists is desirable.
Experience working with children and young people in a school, music school, or youth music setting is desirable.

Desirable criteria
Experience teaching graded syllabi such as ABRSM or Trinity.
Experience preparing students for graded examinations across a range of levels.
Experience working within a British curriculum or international school.
Experience accompanying choirs, vocalists, instrumentalists, or ensembles.
Experience supporting school productions, concerts, or musical theatre.
Experience developing or growing an instrumental or music programme.
Ability to support music theory or aural preparation alongside practical tuition.
Experience using music technology, recording software, or digital music resources.
Existing UAE residency would be an advantage.
