Job purpose
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the development, design, verification, and delivery of process engineering activities for ADNOC offshore greenfield oil and gas projects. The role provides technical leadership throughout FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases while ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, HSE requirements, and operational excellence objectives.
Key responsibilities
Process engineering & design
Lead process engineering activities for offshore greenfield oil and gas facilities, including wellhead platforms, processing facilities, gas compression, water injection, produced water treatment, and export systems.
Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process design basis, and process narratives.
Prepare and review process calculations including:
Heat & material balance
Hydraulic analysis
Pressure relief studies
Flare network analysis
Equipment sizing calculations
Perform process simulation using Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent software.
Ensure process integrity and optimization of production systems.
Greenfield project development
Support concept selection, pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design phases.
Participate in technology selection and process optimization studies.
Evaluate project alternatives for cost, operability, reliability, and safety.
Develop process design philosophies for new offshore facilities and associated onshore interfaces.
Equipment engineering
Prepare and review specifications and datasheets for:
Separators
Heat exchangers
Compressors
Pumps
Filters
Flare systems
Surge vessels
Water treatment packages
Support technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
Resolve technical queries from suppliers and contractors.
HSE & safety engineering
Participate in:
HAZID
HAZOP
SIL assessment
QRA
Constructability reviews
SIMOPS reviews
Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE standards and international safety requirements.
Review relief and flare system adequacy and process safety requirements.
Interface management
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, structural, and operations disciplines.
Liaise with ADNOC offshore representatives, PMC teams, EPC contractors, vendors, and licensors.
Support interface management between offshore installations and existing operating facilities.
Construction & commissioning support
Provide engineering support during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
Review site engineering changes and field modifications.
Participate in commissioning procedures and performance testing activities.
Support troubleshooting and optimization after start-up.
Quality & compliance
Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with:
ADNOC offshore standards
International codes and standards
Company engineering procedures
Project specifications
Participate in design reviews and audits.
Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs within project schedules.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
Master's degree is advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 15 years of process engineering experience in oil & gas.
Minimum 8 years in offshore facilities and greenfield development projects.
Proven experience on ADNOC, Middle East, or major international offshore projects.
Experience in FEED and detailed engineering phases of large EPC projects.
