Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced consultant pediatric ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare provider in the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra regions. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care for infants, children, and adolescents, managing a wide range of congenital, developmental, and acquired eye disorders while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary pediatric teams.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus, congenital cataracts, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and pediatric ocular trauma.
Perform comprehensive eye examinations using age-appropriate assessment techniques.
Conduct pediatric ophthalmic surgical procedures, including strabismus surgery, congenital cataract surgery, and other specialized interventions.
Evaluate and manage pediatric neuro-ophthalmic and retinal disorders where applicable.
Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists to provide multidisciplinary patient care.
Screen premature infants for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and provide timely treatment when indicated.
Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, postoperative care, and preventive eye health.
Participate in emergency on-call services as required.
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, research, teaching, and continuing medical education activities.
Adhere to the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi regulations, hospital policies, and international clinical guidelines.

Qualifications
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognized by the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi.
Completion of an accredited residency in ophthalmology.
Fellowship or equivalent subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Board certification in ophthalmology with eligibility for consultant designation as per DoH Abu Dhabi PQR.
Valid DoH Abu Dhabi license or eligibility letter preferred.
