Job purpose
The Sr. 3D Model Application Engineer is responsible for managing, coordinating, and optimizing 3D engineering design models and digital engineering applications for the offshore water injection project. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and efficient utilization of 3D modeling systems throughout FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning phases, supporting multidisciplinary design coordination, clash detection, brownfield integration, and project digitalization initiatives.
Key responsibilities
3D modeling & digital engineering
Administer and manage project 3D modeling platforms and databases.
Develop and maintain project 3D model execution plans, workflows, and standards.
Ensure model consistency, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate multidiscipline model development including process, mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
Monitor model progress and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Model integration & coordination
Integrate engineering data from multiple disciplines into the project 3D model.
Conduct interdisciplinary model reviews and clash detection sessions.
Identify and resolve design conflicts and interface issues.
Coordinate model updates based on design changes and management of change (MOC) requirements.
Support constructability and operability reviews through model visualization.
Brownfield & offshore modifications
Support brownfield laser scan integration and as-built model validation.
Manage incorporation of existing offshore facility data into project models.
Coordinate tie-in and modification modeling activities.
Ensure accurate representation of existing structures, equipment, and piping systems.
Support offshore surveys and data collection activities when required.
Engineering systems administration
Configure and maintain engineering software environments.
Manage project model databases and user access controls.
Ensure system performance, data integrity, and backup procedures.
Support software upgrades, customization, and troubleshooting.
Develop and maintain project naming conventions and data management standards.
Digital quality assurance
Perform model audits and quality checks.
Validate model accuracy against engineering deliverables.
Ensure compliance with client CAD standards and project procedures.
Monitor model maturity throughout project execution.
Generate model quality reports and corrective action plans.
Construction & commissioning support
Develop 3D construction work packages and visualization tools.
Support construction sequencing and installation planning.
Generate model-based reports, drawings, and material take-offs.
Assist commissioning teams with model navigation and verification.
Support digital handover and asset information management activities.
Training & technical support
Provide guidance and technical support to design teams.
Conduct training sessions on 3D modeling applications and workflows.
Develop user guides and best-practice documentation.
Support project teams in maximizing the effectiveness of digital engineering tools.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, design engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), or related discipline.
Certification in AVEVA E3D, SP3D, or equivalent 3D modeling applications preferred.
Additional qualifications in digital engineering or BIM management are advantageous.
Experience
10–15+ years of experience in engineering design and 3D model administration within oil & gas projects.
Minimum 5 years in a senior 3D modeling or application engineering role.
Extensive experience supporting offshore EPC projects and brownfield modifications.
Proven experience in multidiscipline model coordination and administration.
ADNOC offshore or Middle East project experience highly preferred.
Experience with offshore facilities, water injection projects, and digital engineering workflows is desirable.
