Requirements
Requires substantial hands-on experience leading AI or machine learning engineering, with direct experience in model selection, evaluation, and guardrail design in production systems. A genuine interest in responsible AI and experience setting standards are essential, along with comfort embedding AI tooling into engineering workflows. Experience in defence, government, or other high-stakes, regulated sectors is a strong plus, as are excellent communication skills and the judgment to determine where AI is appropriate.

Principal AI EngineerAnalog is looking for a Principal AI Engineer to lead AI capability across delivery, from model selection and evaluation through to guardrails and human in the loop design. You will set the standard for responsible AI at Analog, and make sure AI tooling is embedded into day to day engineering workflows rather than bolted on at the end.What You'll DoAI Capability and DeliveryLead model selection and evaluation for AI capability across delivery teams, matching the model to the operational need.Design guardrails and human in the loop workflows that keep AI outputs safe, explainable, and trusted by operators.Own the technical roadmap for AI capability within Hive, and prioritise work against measurable outcomes.Partner with the principal solution architect to make sure AI components fit cleanly into the wider platform architecture.Responsible AI and ToolingSet responsible AI standards for the organisation, covering evaluation, bias, safety, and human oversight.Embed AI tooling into day to day engineering workflows, and support teams in adopting it well.Stay ahead of the evolving AI landscape, and bring back practical recommendations rather than hype.Represent Analog's approach to responsible AI with clients, partners, and regulators where required.What You'll BringSubstantial hands on experience leading AI or machine learning engineering within a product or platform team.Direct experience with model selection, evaluation, and guardrail design in production systems.A genuine interest in responsible AI, and experience setting standards that hold up under scrutiny.Comfort embedding AI tooling into engineering workflows, and bringing other engineers along with you.Experience in defence, government, or another high stakes, regulated sector is a strong plus.Excellent communication skills, and the judgment to say no to AI where it does not belong.About AnalogAnalog builds Hive, a digital twin platform that connects physical environments to AI and sensors, enabling defence and government customers to monitor, simulate, train, and command across real world estates and synthetic environments.
