Department: NUQ Journalism ProgramNorthwestern University in Qatar seeks an outstanding colleague for a full-time faculty position in Strategic Communication at the rank of assistant professor, to be appointed in the Journalism and Strategic Communication Program. We welcome scholars with an active research agenda examining emerging technologies, to possibly include AI, VR, or machine learning, and their applications to Strategic Communication. Candidates with industry experience, combined with a research trajectory based in the Global South, will receive priority consideration. Candidates are expected to have linguistic competence and field experience in their area of research.In addition to a highly promising research trajectory emerging from a recent PhD, applicants should show competence in working with global communities, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, and dedication to institutional service and shared governance. Candidates are expected to contribute to both undergraduate and future graduate education and program development. Teaching expectations include two courses per semester, which may include core disciplinary courses, elective courses that speak to their research field, as well as contribution to NU-Q's broader curricular needs. This could include the required Ways of Knowing course, the Doha Seminar honors course, graduate seminars, executive education classes, or courses qualifying for our university's growing number of interdisciplinary minors, such as Africana Studies, AI and Media Studies, Film and Design, Media and Politics, Middle East Studies, and Strategic Communication. There are also opportunities to collaborate with NU-Q's Institute for Advanced Study of the Global South, Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab, and Media Majlis Museum.NU-Q is a community of evidence-based storytellers in the Global South.
