Overview of the role:
The CSSD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment within the healthcare facility. The role is essential in maintaining safe and infection control practices, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use in surgical procedures. Success in this role requires attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and effective communication skills to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
What you will do:
General
Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment.
Assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments.
Follows proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
Monitors biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination.
Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment to make them available to customers in a timely manner.
Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, and distributes instruments, trays, and medical equipment.
Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing and equipment storage areas.
Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
Assists with maintaining departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Required skills to be successful:
Proficiency in sterilization and infection control processes.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Ability to perform quality control analysis and manage inventory levels.
What qualifies you for the role:
Diploma in Nursing or certification as a CSSD Technician.
Preferred UAE license or eligibility letter.
Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Computer literacy and ability to maintain health and safety practices in the clinical area.
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
Skills in quality control analysis, time management, sterilization and packing, autoclave equipment, and infection control management.
