Job description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced senior specialist – orthodontist to join our government healthcare facility in the UAE.
The successful candidate will provide specialized orthodontic assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and comprehensive orthodontic care for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. The role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong treatment-planning skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary dental and healthcare team.
The senior specialist will also contribute to clinical quality, patient safety, professional education, and the continuous development of orthodontic services.
Key responsibilities
Perform comprehensive orthodontic assessments for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
Diagnose malocclusions, dentofacial abnormalities, and other orthodontic conditions.
Develop individualized orthodontic treatment plans based on clinical findings, diagnostic records, and patient needs.
Provide fixed and removable orthodontic treatments within the scope of professional practice.
Manage complex orthodontic cases and coordinate care with other dental and medical specialties when required.
Evaluate dental and facial growth and development and identify appropriate treatment timing.
Review and interpret orthodontic records, photographs, radiographs, cephalometric analyses, and other diagnostic investigations.
Monitor treatment progress and modify treatment plans when clinically indicated.
Manage orthodontic emergencies and complications.
Provide appropriate patient and family education regarding treatment options, oral hygiene, compliance, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment with pediatric dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists, general dentists, and other specialists.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records and treatment documentation.
Ensure compliance with infection-control standards, clinical protocols, government regulations, and facility policies.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, patient-safety initiatives, and service development.
Support and mentor junior dentists and orthodontic staff.
Participate in teaching, training, case presentations, and continuing professional development activities.
Contribute to evidence-based orthodontic practice and clinical research where applicable.
Participate in departmental meetings and other clinical or administrative activities as required.
Requirements
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS, DDS, DMD, or equivalent) from a recognized dental institution.
Recognized postgraduate qualification in orthodontics.
Relevant post-specialization clinical experience appropriate for a senior specialist position.
Strong clinical experience in comprehensive orthodontic diagnosis and treatment.
