Description
Purpose Of Job:To ensure that all operation of electrical equipment is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the manufacturers specificationsTo maintain all electrical equipment on the rig and camps in accordance with H&P planned maintenance system and to manufacturers specificationsTo carry out scheduled and unscheduled repairs to electrical equipment at the rig site and on the campsTo ensure the availability of adequate spare parts for electrical equipment through the inventory system, both for routine maintenance and to cover unscheduled maintenance or replacementsKey TasksPersonally responsible for own safety and conducting oneself to the standards of H&P Policies and ProceduresCarry out all duties in the safest possible manner and ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctlyTake personal responsibility for, and demonstrate leadership in, HSE. Play a role in safety meetings and the safety programEnact the planned maintenance program for rig and camp electrical equipment and instrumentationWork with the Driller and other crew members to ensure that the rig is operated in accordance within the design parameters and in conformance with all aspects of the H&P SystemConduct visual, and where possible functional, inspections of equipment both prior to use and at periodic intervals and in particular after rig moves and rig-upTake responsibility for planned maintenance, certification, record-keeping and reportingMaintain all required records, documentation and certification of electrical equipment on the rig and camp and produce accurate and timely reports on usage of such equipmentMaintain and update all electrical drawings and wiring diagramsEnsure that lock-out and tag-out procedures are fully complied with at rig site and campsiteSupervise and assist with the dismantling, packaging and preparation of electrical equipment for rig moves, including re-assembly at new locationsEstablish a culture of continuous improvement in operations and demonstrate results in this regard. Work with the other members of the rig crew to develop improved practices which will positively impact on rig performanceMaintain, jointly with the Rig Mechanic, all rig instrumentationMaintain the cleanliness of the SCR house and integrity of the electrical control equipment thereinMake recommendations for improved practicesPrepare the rig and camp equipment for stacking out, when required, in accordance with the provisions of System and contribute to preparation of the stack out reportMake provisions for electrical supplies and instrumentation to meet third party service companies requirements at rig site and provide emergency repairs to their equipment where possibleMaintain the validity of personal certification and training, and those of any direct reportsEnsure understanding of, and compliance with, H&P permit to work systemMinimum Qualification: Diploma / Technical Skills.Minimum Experience: Suitable skilled electrical qualification · Knowledge of local electrical rules & regulations · Ex-hazard knowledge / competence · Experience of the workings and repair of Drilling Rigs and their equipment desirable. · Experience of drive and control engineering / maintenance / design desirable. Each individual member of the company must be aware of his responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area.Apply H&P safety regulations.Report all the potentials hazards and abnormal situations.Plan and implement Safety at the work site.Obtain necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE & QA Manager and in accordance with safety procedures (Permit To Work).Explain to the personnel concerned the visible and hidden hazards involved in the jobs (Job Safety Analysis/ Pre job meetings)Ensure that all work is carried out to the requirements of the system and in compliance with Safety Procedures in force, initiates as necessary within their discipline and ensures all safety precautions are carried out.Be aware before commencing the work, as to the safety precautions and measures to be observed
