We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced consultant pediatric emergency medicine physician (UK CCT holder) to join our children’s hospital.
The successful candidate will provide specialized emergency medical care for infants, children, and adolescents, manage acute and critical pediatric conditions, and contribute to delivering safe, high-quality emergency services within a multidisciplinary pediatric healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities
Provide expert emergency assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence.
Manage acute and life-threatening pediatric conditions including respiratory emergencies, infections, trauma, allergic reactions, neurological emergencies, and critical illnesses.
Perform pediatric emergency procedures including resuscitation, airway management, stabilization, and emergency interventions.
Assess and manage pediatric trauma cases in collaboration with surgical and critical care teams.
Develop appropriate treatment plans and ensure timely escalation of care when required.
Coordinate with pediatric specialists, intensivists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Lead and support emergency department clinical activities, ensuring compliance with pediatric emergency care standards.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide supervision, training, and mentorship to pediatric emergency physicians, residents, and junior medical staff.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, research activities, and pediatric emergency medicine education.
Requirements
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited medical institution.
Completion of recognized residency training in pediatrics and/or pediatric emergency medicine.
UK CCT in pediatric emergency medicine/emergency medicine, American board certification in pediatric emergency medicine, Australian board certification, South African board certification, or equivalent Western qualification.
Minimum 5–10 years of post-qualification experience as a consultant pediatric emergency medicine physician in a children’s hospital, tertiary hospital, or academic healthcare facility.
Extensive experience managing pediatric emergency cases, trauma, and critical care situations.
Current certification in pediatric emergency care programs such as PALS (where applicable).
Eligible for medical licensing with relevant GCC healthcare authorities.
Excellent clinical judgment, leadership ability, and communication skills with children, families, and healthcare teams.
