The Draftsman will be responsible for preparing accurate technical drawings, shop drawings, production drawings, and manufacturing details for bespoke furniture, carpentry, joinery, and related interior works.
This role requires close coordination with the design, project, production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure that drawings are technically accurate, practical to manufacture, and aligned with project requirements.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in furniture manufacturing, carpentry, joinery, fit-out, or similar environment and understand how design drawings translate into actual production.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Shop Drawings
Prepare detailed technical drawings and shop drawings based on approved designs, project requirements, specifications, and site conditions.
Develop detailed production drawings for bespoke furniture, cabinetry, wardrobes, kitchens, wall panels, doors, counters, reception desks, and other joinery items.
Develop drawings showing dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, construction methods, joints, fixing details, and other information required for manufacturing.
Furniture & Joinery Drafting
Develop and modify drawings for custom furniture and joinery products.
Translate architectural, interior design, and concept drawings into practical manufacturing drawings.
Detail furniture construction, including carcasses, doors, drawers, shelves, panels, frames, supports, and hardware.
Production Coordination
Work closely with the production and workshop teams to ensure drawings are practical and suitable for manufacturing.
Discuss technical details with carpenters, joinery supervisors, production managers, and other workshop personnel when required.
Review production feedback and modify drawings to resolve manufacturing issues.
Site Measurements & Revisions
Review and incorporate site measurements into shop and production drawings.
Prepare revised drawings following design changes, client comments, site conditions, or production requirements.
Maintain proper revision control and ensure the latest approved drawings are issued to the relevant teams.
Design & Project Coordination
Coordinate with interior designers, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to clarify technical requirements.
Review design drawings and specifications to identify missing or conflicting information before production.
Raise technical queries and seek clarification where necessary.
Drawing Accuracy & Quality Control
Check all drawings carefully for dimensions, materials, levels, finishes, hardware, construction details, and other technical information before release.
Ensure drawings are accurate, clear, properly detailed, and suitable for manufacturing. Ensure drawings comply with approved project specifications and company standards.
Material & Hardware Detailing
Clearly indicate materials, finishes, thicknesses, edge details, and construction specifications within drawings.
Detail relevant hardware and fittings, including hinges, drawer systems, runners, handles, brackets, supports, locks, and other furniture hardware.
Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure specified materials and hardware are practical and available.
Documentation & Drawing Management
Maintain an organized digital library of drawings, project files, revisions, and technical documentation.
Follow company naming conventions and drawing/document control procedures.
Ensure only the latest approved drawings are issued to production and installation teams.
