The consultant cardiologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of heart and vascular diseases while delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. The role involves outpatient consultations, inpatient management, emergency cardiac care, interpretation of advanced diagnostic investigations, and participation in multidisciplinary clinical services. Key responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases. Conduct outpatient consultations and provide inpatient cardiac care. Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. Interpret ECGs, echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, stress tests, CT coronary angiography, and other cardiac investigations. Manage patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and congenital heart conditions. Perform and supervise cardiac procedures as per clinical privileges. Respond to cardiac emergencies and participate in on-call duties. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Provide consultations for patients referred by other specialties. Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records. Educate patients and families on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and treatment options. Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, CME activities, and departmental meetings. Supervise and mentor junior physicians and allied healthcare professionals. Ensure compliance with Oman Ministry of Health regulations and hospital policies. Requirements Qualifications MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution. MD/DNB in internal medicine or equivalent. DM/DNB/fellowship/CCT/board certification in cardiology. Valid Oman MOH license or eligibility for licensure. Minimum 6–10 years of post-specialty experience, including experience as a consultant cardiologist. Additional fellowship in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, or cardiac imaging is an advantage. Required skills Strong clinical expertise in cardiovascular medicine.
