Position overview:
The Junior Engineer is an entry-level professional role focused on supporting the delivery of engineering projects through technical analysis, design assistance, and project coordination. This position provides hands-on experience across multiple project phases while working under the guidance of senior engineering staff. The role offers significant opportunities for professional development and exposure to diverse engineering challenges within a collaborative team environment.
Key responsibilities
Technical support and project assistance
Assist with the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions
Conduct technical research and perform calculations and analysis
Prepare drawings and specifications using industry-standard software
Support project documentation and maintain organized project files
Participate in site visits, inspections, and field measurements to gather data and assess project requirements
Contribute to feasibility studies and prepare technical reports
Assist with the evaluation of design alternatives to support informed decision-making
Support the development of cost estimates and project schedules
Collaboration and learning
Work closely with senior engineers and project teams to learn established engineering methodologies and company standards
Attend project meetings and contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions
Actively seek mentorship to develop professional competencies and technical expertise
Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients under supervision
Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and training programs
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Develop cross-functional relationships that enhance project outcomes and professional growth
Quality assurance and compliance
Help ensure work meets technical standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
Review designs for accuracy and consistency
Perform quality checks on calculations and documentation
Identify potential issues and escalate to senior staff as appropriate
Assist with the preparation of submissions for regulatory approval
Support compliance audits and inspections
Contribute to the maintenance of quality management systems
Documentation and reporting
Maintain accurate records of project activities, technical findings, and design decisions
Prepare progress reports and status updates for project stakeholders
Update project files and contribute to final deliverables including technical specifications and as-built documentation
Support document control processes and ensure version management of technical drawings and calculations
Assist with the organization of project archives to facilitate knowledge retention and future reference
Prepare meeting minutes and action item logs when required
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or related discipline)
Proficiency in industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools)
