Requirements
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of CNC operating experience (lathes and milling machines) in a heavy manufacturing environment. Familiarity with FANUC controls, precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators), reading drawings and geometric tolerancing, and tool/accessory knowledge is expected. Ability to operate a forklift (certification preferred), follow written and oral instructions, communicate in English, adapt to changing conditions, and work flexible shifts (primarily 2nd shift). Must be able to perform basic math for fabrication calculations. PPE and potential exposure to hazardous environments are part of the role.
Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply and maintain safe operations by adhering to NOV safety policies and procedures.
  • Setup, program, and operate CNC machines under minimal supervision.
  • Work as a team player with others in a demanding, fast-paced environment to meet frequently changing production.
  • Carry out job requirements in accordance with established procedures and specifications while meeting established company production goals.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean, organized, and orderly. Perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting and running a slant bed lathe and vertical mill utilizing FANUC machine controls would be a distinct advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
  • Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and lifting devices for movement of parts, or willing to gain certification.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules.
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • You will be required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, clothing, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work potentially will be performed in areas where harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing chemicals). Per HSE requirements, you could be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules, however this position will be primarily 2nd shift.
