Job description
We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified consultant pediatric physical medicine & rehabilitation to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive rehabilitation care to children and adolescents with congenital, developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and acquired disabilities.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate and manage pediatric patients with physical, developmental, neurological, and musculoskeletal impairments.
Develop individualized, multidisciplinary rehabilitation plans based on each patient's clinical needs and functional goals.
Assess motor function, mobility, developmental progress, activities of daily living, and overall functional status.
Manage pediatric rehabilitation conditions including cerebral palsy, developmental disorders, neuromuscular conditions, acquired brain injuries, and spinal cord disorders.
Coordinate rehabilitation programs involving physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, nursing, and other allied health professionals.
Assess the need for orthotics, prosthetics, mobility aids, adaptive equipment, and other assistive technologies.
Manage spasticity and other functional complications using appropriate medical and interventional approaches.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans according to clinical outcomes.
Provide counseling and education to children, parents, and caregivers regarding rehabilitation goals and long-term care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.
Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, patient-safety standards, and UAE healthcare regulations.
Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education.
Requirements
Qualifications
Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Recognized postgraduate qualification in physical medicine & rehabilitation, with appropriate pediatric rehabilitation training or substantial pediatric rehabilitation experience.
Relevant post-specialization clinical experience as required under UAE PQR guidelines.
Valid professional license or eligibility to obtain DOH licensing in Abu Dhabi.
Proven experience managing pediatric rehabilitation and complex functional disabilities.
Strong clinical assessment, rehabilitation planning, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with children and their families.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
