Job description
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled consultant/specialist neurosurgeon to join our leading healthcare facility in the UAE.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in neurosurgery, brain and spine surgery, neurotrauma, and the surgical management of neurological conditions, with a commitment to patient safety, advanced surgical care, and excellent clinical outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurointensivists, oncologists, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive neurosurgical consultations and neurological assessments.
Diagnose and manage patients with surgical disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system.
Develop individualized surgical and non-surgical treatment plans based on clinical assessment and diagnostic findings.
Perform elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures within the physician's training, competence, and approved clinical scope.
Manage patients with brain tumors, spinal disorders, traumatic brain injuries, intracranial bleeding, and other neurosurgical conditions.
Perform appropriate cranial and spinal surgical procedures according to clinical expertise.
Assess and manage patients with degenerative spinal conditions, disc disease, spinal stenosis, and nerve compression.
Manage neurotrauma cases including head injuries, intracranial hemorrhage, and traumatic spinal conditions.
Review and interpret MRI, CT, angiography, X-rays, and other neuroimaging studies.
Perform appropriate pre-operative assessments and discuss surgical options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes with patients and families.
Provide post-operative neurosurgical care and monitor patients for neurological or surgical complications.
Participate in emergency neurosurgical services and urgent management of acute neurological conditions.
Coordinate care for patients requiring neurocritical care and intensive monitoring.
Collaborate with neurologists, neuro-oncologists, neuroradiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and rehabilitation specialists.
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and tumor boards where applicable.
Provide appropriate patient and family counseling regarding diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential medical records.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, research, and continuing professional development.
Requirements
MBBS, MD, or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
Recognized postgraduate qualification in neurosurgery or an equivalent recognized specialty.
Relevant post-specialization clinical experience.
Strong experience in general neurosurgical practice.
Good experience in brain and spine surgery.
Strong clinical assessment and surgical decision-making skills.
