Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, or equivalent. Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, or a relevant subdiscipline such as terrestrial ecology or ornithology. 8–10 years of experience in biodiversity management in a consultancy or project setting. At least 3 years of experience managing biodiversity risks of wind power projects on birds. Specific experience with BMPs, BAPs, offsets, SoD, and PCFM is highly valued. At least 3 years of experience managing biodiversity in accordance with the specific requirements of IFC, EBRD, and ADB. Strong knowledge of managing renewable energy impacts on biodiversity.

The RoleA global energy company is hiring a Biodiversity Manager to lead biodiversity work across all workstreams for the Zarafshan Wind Power Project in Uzbekistan. The role covers biodiversity management plan implementation, Shutdown on Demand (SoD) optimization, Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) execution, and grievance management related to biodiversity. The position also supports the company's broader portfolio assets on biodiversity matters and contributes to corporate biodiversity initiatives. The role can be based in Abu Dhabi, UAE or Zarafshan, Uzbekistan.Key ResponsibilitiesLead implementation of the Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP) in line with applicable standards.Lead preparation, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on the Biodiversity Action Plan for plant species triggering critical habitat criteria.Lead preparation, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on the birds offset plan where fatalities of target species occur.Manage biodiversity surveys conducted by external consultants.Prepare Terms of Reference, lead technical aspects of the tender process, and monitor execution of monitoring surveys for bird populations in the Important Bird Area (IBA) and bat populations near the site.Analyse survey results and propose updates to the Biodiversity Management Plan as required.Provide technical ornithological advice on the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Identiflight SoD system.Support portfolio asset management on biodiversity aspects as required.Participate in corporate biodiversity initiatives.Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, or equivalent.Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, or a relevant subdiscipline such as terrestrial ecology or ornithology.Membership in a recognised national or international professional organisation is an advantage.8–10 years of experience in biodiversity management in a consultancy or project setting.At least 3 years of experience managing biodiversity risks of wind power projects on birds.Specific experience with BMPs, BAPs, offsets, SoD, and PCFM is highly valued.At least 3 years of experience managing biodiversity in accordance with the specific requirements of IFC, EBRD, and ADB.Strong knowledge of managing renewable energy impacts on biodiversity.Application ProcessAs part of the application process, the global energy company will collect, store, and process personal information submitted by applicants in accordance with its Candidate Privacy Notice.About MENA CareersMENA Careers is a private equity career platform built for candidates who want better access to recruiters, live opportunities, and market insight.
