Job purpose
The Specialist Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, review, and technical support of electrical systems for an offshore water injection project. The role ensures all electrical equipment and installations comply with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, and applicable safety regulations while supporting project execution from concept through commissioning and start-up.
Key responsibilities
Electrical engineering & design
Develop and review electrical design deliverables for offshore water injection facilities.
Perform electrical system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination studies.
Prepare and review electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, calculations, and requisitions.
Ensure compliance with project requirements, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API, and client standards.
Power generation & distribution
Design and review medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems.
Support electrical integration of water injection pumps, seawater lift pumps, and other rotating equipment.
Review single-line diagrams (SLDs), load lists, cable schedules, and power distribution philosophies.
Ensure reliability and availability of critical offshore electrical systems.
Equipment engineering
Provide technical expertise for procurement and evaluation of:
Generators
Transformers
Switchgear (MV/LV)
Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Motors
UPS systems
Battery chargers
Lighting systems
Cathodic protection systems
Electrical heat tracing
Participate in vendor evaluations, technical bid analysis, and supplier meetings.
Hazardous area compliance
Ensure electrical equipment complies with hazardous area classification requirements.
Review and verify Ex equipment selection and installation.
Support hazardous area studies and HAZOP/HAZID reviews.
Ensure compliance with IECEx, ATEX, and project-specific offshore requirements.
Construction & commissioning support
Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
Review vendor documents and resolve technical queries.
Support site troubleshooting and commissioning activities.
Participate in FAT, SAT, and system acceptance testing.
Interface management
Coordinate with mechanical, instrumentation, process, civil, and project teams.
Support client meetings, design reviews, and technical workshops.
Manage interfaces with EPC contractors, vendors, and third-party consultants.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Master’s degree is an advantage.
Professional engineering certification is preferred.
Experience
15+ years of electrical engineering experience within oil & gas, offshore, EPC, or energy projects.
Minimum 5 years in a specialist or senior electrical engineering role.
Proven experience on offshore platforms, water injection projects, FPSOs, offshore processing facilities, or subsea developments.
Strong experience with FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, and commissioning phases.
