Role overview
The successful candidate will provide consultant-level gastroenterology and digestive disease care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment supported by experienced consultants, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and modern diagnostic and endoscopy infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and manage a broad range of gastrointestinal, digestive, and hepatobiliary conditions.
Provide specialist management for conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures according to clinical privileges, training, expertise, and facility scope.
Perform and interpret relevant gastrointestinal investigations, including upper GI endoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and other diagnostic studies.
Manage common and complex gastrointestinal disorders and provide comprehensive long-term follow-up and continuity of care.
Assess and manage acute gastrointestinal presentations and coordinate appropriate inpatient care when required.
Develop individualised, evidence-based treatment plans according to patient needs and clinical findings.
Collaborate with general surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, nutrition, hepatology, and other specialties for multidisciplinary patient management.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, endoscopy safety, and clinical governance standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement, service development, and patient safety initiatives.
