A leading, internationally accredited healthcare provider in the UAE is seeking an experienced Consultant Family Medicine to join its multidisciplinary primary healthcare team. Role overview
The Consultant Family Medicine will provide comprehensive outpatient medical care, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate patient care with specialists and allied healthcare professionals while promoting continuity of care and preventive health.
Key responsibilities
Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly.
Diagnose, treat, and manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and complex medical conditions using evidence-based clinical practice.
Perform comprehensive health assessments, routine medical examinations, and preventive health screenings.
Develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing monitoring for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, dyslipidaemia, and cardiovascular disease.
Promote preventive healthcare through vaccinations, lifestyle counselling, smoking cessation, weight management, and health education.
Manage women's health, men's health, adolescent health, and geriatric care within the scope of family medicine.
Perform minor office-based procedures according to clinical competency and organizational policies.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory investigations, diagnostic imaging, and other relevant tests.
Refer patients appropriately to specialty services and coordinate multidisciplinary care to ensure continuity and optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation, informed consent, and medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education to individuals and families.
Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, interns, and other healthcare professionals where applicable.
Participate in on-call responsibilities and emergency care as required by the organization.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection prevention protocols, accreditation standards, and ethical medical practice.
Requirements
Qualifications
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Completion of an accredited residency training program in Family Medicine.
Board Certification or equivalent in Family Medicine (e.g., Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, CCT, FRACGP, MRCGP, European Board, or equivalent recognized by UAE health authorities).
Eligibility for or possession of a DHA, DOH, or MOH Consultant license as applicable.
Fellowship or additional qualifications in Primary Care, Preventive Medicine, Geriatrics, Women's Health, or Lifestyle Medicine are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of post-board certification experience as a Consultant Family Medicine physician (or as required by UAE licensing authorities).
Experience working in internationally accredited hospitals, medical centres, or primary healthcare networks is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in chronic disease management, preventive medicine, and comprehensive primary care.
Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
