Role overview The Consultant Family Medicine will provide comprehensive outpatient medical care, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate patient care with specialists and allied healthcare professionals while promoting continuity of care and preventive health. Key responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and complex medical conditions using evidence-based clinical practice. Perform comprehensive health assessments, routine medical examinations, and preventive health screenings. Develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing monitoring for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, dyslipidaemia, and cardiovascular disease. Promote preventive healthcare through vaccinations, lifestyle counselling, smoking cessation, weight management, and health education. Manage women's health, men's health, adolescent health, and geriatric care within the scope of family medicine. Perform minor office-based procedures according to clinical competency and organizational policies. Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory investigations, diagnostic imaging, and other relevant tests. Refer patients appropriately to specialty services and coordinate multidisciplinary care to ensure continuity and optimal patient outcomes. Maintain accurate clinical documentation, informed consent, and medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs. Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education to individuals and families. Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, interns, and other healthcare professionals where applicable.
