Job purpose
The Specialist Smart Plant Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, integration, and optimization of Hexagon SmartPlant solutions across ADNOC Offshore greenfield projects. The role ensures effective engineering data management, design system integrity, digital project execution, and alignment with ADNOC standards throughout FEED, EPC, commissioning, and handover phases.
Key responsibilities
SmartPlant administration & support
Administer and maintain SmartPlant applications including:
SmartPlant Foundation (SPF)
SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID)
SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools)
SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL)
SmartPlant 3D (SP3D)
SmartPlant Review (SPR)
Configure project environments and workflows in accordance with ADNOC Offshore standards.
Manage user access, security roles, and permission controls.
Greenfield project execution
Support engineering teams during FEED and EPC phases for offshore greenfield developments.
Develop and implement SmartPlant data models, templates, libraries, and standards.
Ensure accurate engineering data capture and consistency across disciplines.
Support digital handover requirements and asset information management.
Systems integration
Integrate SmartPlant solutions with:
SAP
AVEVA tools
Document Management Systems
Engineering Data Warehouses
Asset Information Management systems
Manage data exchange between engineering applications and project stakeholders.
Engineering information management
Establish engineering data governance procedures.
Ensure compliance with ADNOC and project data quality requirements.
Monitor database performance and integrity.
Conduct periodic audits and data validation exercises.
Project coordination
Coordinate with Engineering, IT, Digital Transformation, PMT, EPC Contractors, and Vendors.
Participate in technical reviews, HAZOP, constructability reviews, and system acceptance testing.
Provide technical guidance to end users and project teams.
Training & continuous improvement
Conduct user training sessions and prepare operational procedures.
Develop best practices for SmartPlant utilization.
Identify opportunities for process automation and digitalization.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in:
Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or related discipline)
Information Technology
Computer Engineering
Experience
Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience.
Minimum 8 years of hands-on SmartPlant engineering systems experience.
Strong experience on ADNOC, major NOCs, or international offshore projects.
Extensive experience supporting greenfield offshore developments.
