Must have strong technical understanding of electronic components, proven experience in supplier negotiations, relationship management, and contract management, along with skills in developing commodity strategies, managing supply risks, and driving supplier performance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/Supply Chain systems is also required.
Description
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for electronic components that support business growth, operational continuity, and cost competitiveness across global manufacturing operations.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with global suppliers to ensure supply continuity, quality, innovation, and long-term value creation.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, including pricing, commercial terms, long-term agreements, and annual cost improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends, supply risks, and industry developments to proactively mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • Drive supplier performance through structured KPI reviews, business reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and capacity planning.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers while supporting supplier transitions into production in collaboration with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Global Commodity Leaders, Supplier Quality, and cross-functional stakeholders to support new product introductions, sourcing strategies, and supplier development.
  • Lead sourcing projects and strategic initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and successful delivery of business objectives.
  • Drive cost optimization through value engineering, supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, logistics optimization, and part standardization.
  • Support resolution of critical supply issues by coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to minimize operational impact.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Commodity Engineers and Supplier Performance Engineers, where applicable.
  • Champion Emerson's values, ethics, safety standards, and compliance with Global Supply Chain policies and procedures.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of electronic components and direct materials sourcing.
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, supplier relationship management, and commercial contract management.
  • Experience developing commodity strategies, managing supply risks, and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a global, cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP/Supply Chain systems.

 
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Experience sourcing electronic components within industrial automation, process control, instrumentation, electronics manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of global electronics supply markets, semiconductor supply chains, and contract manufacturing.
  • Experience with supplier development, supplier qualification, and quality collaboration.
  • Familiarity with cost modeling, value engineering, and total cost of ownership methodologies.
  • Experience leading regional or global commodity strategies.
  • APICS, CPSM, CIPS, or other professional procurement or supply chain certifications are advantageous.
