Job purpose
To be responsible for the health, hygiene and wellbeing of students and staff of the school, in compliance with regulations and rulings of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Job scope
All health requirements of students and staff, inclusive of preparing all staff on preventative hygiene procedures; administering of first-aid; immunizations record keeping; and promoting health awareness where required.
Internal & external interactions
Internal: Students and employees of the school.
External: School parents, third party vendors and DHA officials.
Key accountabilities
Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS core values.
Ensure that students and parents adhere to, and are well informed of immunization programs as per DHA guidelines.
Monitor the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene within the school, particularly in areas such as the cafeteria, washrooms and swimming pools.
Be available to students and staff to address their immediate medical needs, providing a source of medical advice.
Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students as regulated by the DHA.
Establish procedures for providing first aid in cases of accidents or illness on the school campus or during school functions.
Refer accidents or illness appropriately to the school doctor or hospitals, and inform parents and the school principal.
Be present for all student related activities on campus as required.
Keep up to date with current medical practices and regulations, as prescribed by governmental authorities.
Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
Perform other duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers or supervisors.
