Description
The Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading and managing all electrical commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, timely, and quality execution of EPC electrical commissioning works. The role provides technical leadership, coordinates multidisciplinary interfaces, oversees contractor performance, and ensures successful system completion, energization, startup, testing, and project handover while maintaining full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and HSE requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee all EPC electrical commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through startup and final handover.Manage and supervise EPC Contractor commissioning teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of commissioning works.Develop and implement electrical commissioning strategies, procedures, schedules, and execution plans.Lead inspections, testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical systems.Review and approve commissioning procedures, method statements, test packages, and commissioning documentation.Lead Mechanical Completion, Ready for Commissioning (RFC), Energization Clearance Certificate (ECC), Taking Over Process (TOP), system handover, and project closeout activities.Coordinate system walkdowns, punch list management, and verification of punch item closure.Lead startup, synchronization, reliability run, and performance testing activities.Monitor commissioning progress, identify risks, resolve technical issues, and implement corrective actions.Coordinate closely with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Vendor representatives, OEMs, and Client teams throughout commissioning and startup.Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable international standards, and company procedures.Manage electrical interfaces with mechanical, instrumentation, control systems, and process commissioning teams.Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and actively promote a strong safety culture during commissioning activities.Review electrical drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), vendor documentation, relay settings, and protection coordination studies.Participate in FAT, SAT, vendor inspections, and factory acceptance activities when required.Prepare commissioning progress reports, KPI reports, technical assessments, and management updates.Support project planning by providing commissioning input during engineering and construction phases.Mentor and develop junior commissioning engineers and contribute to technical competency development within the commissioning team.Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into future project execution.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).Excellent command of written and spoken English.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Familiarity with commissioning management systems and digital completion systems is preferred.Experience10–12 years of progressive engineering experience in electrical commissioning, construction, startup, or operation of major industrial facilities.Minimum 5 years in a lead or supervisory electrical commissioning role.Proven experience leading commissioning teams on large EPC projects.Extensive experience in industrial projects such as:Combined Cycle Power PlantsConventional Power Generation
