The university empowers the next generation of AI leaders, driving innovation and impactful applications of AI through world-class education and interdisciplinary research.
About the role
The Computer Vision department at MBZUAI is seeking a Research Engineer to design and implement intelligent, autonomous pipeline systems that analyze, interpret, and act upon large-scale climate and Earth observation data. The successful candidate will contribute to developing adaptive systems that bridge AI reasoning with real-world environmental understanding — enabling dynamic, data-driven climate forecasting and sustainable decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Agentic pipeline architecture:
Design autonomous data-to-action pipelines integrating perception, reasoning, and control
Develop multi-agent frameworks for automated environmental analysis and adaptive intervention
Implement scalable orchestration systems to manage multimodal data (satellite, sensor, and simulation)
Build real-time feedback loops for model-driven climate monitoring and scenario adaptation
System integration & optimization:
Integrate large-scale datasets from diverse Earth observation sources
Optimize agentic inference efficiency for real-time environmental decision pipelines
Develop metrics and benchmarking protocols to evaluate pipeline robustness and scalability
Support infrastructure design for cloud-based and distributed deployments
Collaboration & reporting:
Work closely with research scientists, climate experts, and engineers to define goals and deliverables
Produce periodic reports and visual dashboards to track performance and outcomes
Contribute to publications, demos, and open-source releases
