✨ AI Summary
Elsewedy Electric is seeking a Senior Demand Planning Engineer to own the BusWay demand plan and S&OP cycle. This role involves building and maintaining demand forecasts, analyzing forecast accuracy and bias, and driving corrective actions. The engineer will also own the end-to-end monthly S&OP calendar, facilitate demand and supply reviews, and prepare S&OP packs. Responsibilities include leading supply chain contributions to the annual Business Operating Plan, integrating with Finance, and modeling working capital consequences. The role also requires translating the demand plan into a Rough-Cut Capacity Plan, balancing demand against capacity, and serving as the primary supply chain interface to Commercial and Project Management teams. The ideal candidate will establish and own the planning data model, build planning tools and dashboards, and design ERP-integrated planning processes. Continuous improvement and process development, including documenting SOPs and coaching stakeholders, are also key aspects of this position. The job requires a Bachelor's degree in industrial, Production, or Mechanical engineering, with 4-6 years of experience in supply chain planning, specifically in demand planning, S&OP, or integrated business planning. Proven experience running structured planning cycles, owning forecast accuracy and bias with demonstrable improvements, and experience in a manufacturing environment are essential. Advanced Excel skills for modeling and scenario analysis, along with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders with data, are also critical requirements.

Description
Key Responsibilities:Demand Planning & ForecastingOwn the BusWay demand plan across an 18-month rolling horizon, split between confirmed backlog and weighted pipeline.Build and maintain the project funnel conversion model with Commercial — win probability, expected award date, expected delivery phasing — validated against historical conversion performance.Segment demand by customer, sector, project type and geography to expose patterns, concentration risk and growth opportunity.Establish, measure and publish forecast accuracy and forecast bias at the levels that matter (total BU, segment, key customer, monthly bucket).Analyse root causes of forecast variance and agree corrective actions with the relevant function, closing the loop rather than reporting the gap.S&OP Cycle Ownership & OrchestrationOwn the end-to-end monthly S&OP calendar: data cut-off, demand review, supply and capacity review, pre-alignment, and the executive S&OP meeting chaired by the Supply Chain Manager.Prepare and issue the S&OP pack and pre-reads ahead of every meeting, with the analysis complete and the decisions required clearly framed — the meeting is for deciding, not for discovering.Facilitate the demand review with Commercial and the supply review with Production and Planning, aligning as much as possible ahead of the executive session.Frame the gaps, risks, options and trade-offs for decision, with a recommended position and the consequence of each alternative quantified.Business Operating Plan (BOP) & Financial IntegrationLead the supply chain contribution to the annual Business Operating Plan: volume, capacity, inventory and working-capital assumptions.Work with Finance & Accounting to translate the volume and mix plan into the revenue and cost plan, ensuring supply chain and finance operate from a single set of assumptions.Maintain a rolling re-forecast against the BOP and quantify the variance drivers — mix, timing, conversion, capacity, price.Model the working capital consequence of the plan: inventory requirements, copper and aluminium exposure, cash phasing against project milestones.Support commercial and investment decisions with quantified analysis: capacity investment cases, make-vs-outsource, project prioritisation, order acceptance under constraint.Provide the volume and mix inputs required for capacity, headcount and capital planning across the supply chain.Supply, Capacity & Constraint PlanningTranslate the demand plan into a Rough-Cut Capacity Plan (RCCP) against production capability, identifying bottlenecks early enough to resolve them.Balance demand against capacity, material lead times and project milestone commitments, and present feasible options where they compete.Work with Material Planning on the long-lead and high-value material implications of the plan — particularly copper and aluminium volumes, timing and price exposure.Provide the agreed, single demand signal that Material Planning, Production Planning, Warehousing and Logistics plan against.Cross-Functional Interface & GovernanceAct as the primary supply chain interface to the Commercial team on demand, order intake, customer commitments and delivery expectations.Partner with Project Management on project milestone dates, delivery phasing, item list release timing and revision impact.Partner with Finance & Accounting on volume, revenue, inventory, working capital and variance analysis.Define and maintain the gives-and-gets: what each function provides, in what format, by what date, and what it receives in return.Work proactively across functions to align inputs and data, engaging the Supply Chain Manager where a decision or arbitration is required.Planning Systems, Data & ReportingEstablish and own the planning data model — the single source of truth for demand, backlog, capacity and plan-versus-actual.Build and maintain planning tools, models and dashboards (advanced Excel and Power BI or equivalent) that make the plan visible and self-service across functions.Design and implement structured, systematised, ERP-integrated planning processes and tools to support the business unit's growth trajectory.Identify and lead automation and digitalisation opportunities across the planning process.Process Development & Continuous ImprovementDesign, document and maintain SOPs and work instructions for demand planning, S&OP and BOP processes.Build the planning capability of the wider organisation — engage and coach Commercial, Production and Project Management stakeholders on their role in the cycle.Benchmark against S&OP and IBP best practice and drive a staged maturity roadmap.Job Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering industrial, Production, Mechanical or any related field.4–6 years in supply chain planning, with demand planning, S&OP or integrated business planning as a named, owned part of your role.Experience running or co-running a structured planning cycle — owning the calendar, building the pack, presenting to senior stakeholders and driving actions to closure.Experience owning forecast accuracy and bias, with evidence of having improved them.Experience in a manufacturing environment.Advanced Excel — modelling, scenario analysis, large data sets. The ability to engage and constructively challenge senior stakeholders with data.
