Role OverviewAs a Manager - Underwriting, you will own the motor underwriting function, setting and applying risk selection and pricing standards across our portfolio. Based at our Eastern Region Office, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams in a HYBRID environment to deliver profitable growth, maintain disciplined risk appetite, and drive underwriting excellence within our organization.ResponsibilitiesManage the motor underwriting team's daily activities to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent risk assessment and quotation.Set and maintain underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, acceptance criteria, and referral authority limits.Review and approve risks referred above delegated authority, including fleet, high-value, and non-standard cases.Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios, retention, and segment profitability, and recommend rating and appetite adjustments.Work with actuarial and pricing teams on rate reviews, tariff filings, and product changes.Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, approved tariffs, and internal underwriting controls.Coordinate with claims, distribution, and product teams to align underwriting decisions with commercial and customer outcomes.Manage reinsurance treaty application and facultative placements for risks outside treaty terms.Identify and implement process improvements and automation across underwriting operations.Ensure the team's adherence to service standards and performance KPIs.Prepare detailed reports and analytics for management review.Must Have RequirementsProven experience in motor insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of risk selection, rating, and portfolio management.Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate a high-performing team in a dynamic environment.Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements, approved tariffs, and compliance obligations relevant to motor underwriting.Strong technical grasp of motor products, including comprehensive, third-party liability, and fleet covers.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.Nice To Have RequirementsExperience with underwriting automation, rules engines, or digital quote and bind journeys.Background in utilizing data analytics, telematics, or usage-based pricing to enhance risk selection.Exposure to reinsurance structuring and treaty negotiation.Familiarity with the latest insurance technology trends and digital transformation.Professional qualification such as ACII, CPCU, or equivalent.Arabic and English fluency.Perks And BenefitsEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).Flexible hybrid work arrangements.Opportunities for career growth and professional development.Collaborative, innovative work culture.
