Job Description

 

The GHD Contamination Assessment & Remediation team in Cincinnati, Ohio is looking for an One Site Environmental Field Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the future of our Contamination Assessment & Remediation service line through the onsite coordination and implementation of a wide range of environmental solutions for a long term complex environmental construction project. This role will be based near Springfield, Ohio with an expected duration of approximately three years. 

The main purpose of this role is to perform construction support for a project that involves the remediation of a former barrel fill CERCLA site including additional investigation and assessment of contamination of different environmental matrices (drum contents, soil, groundwater, air and others). Create technical reports to inform proposals, budgets, support environmental construction and regulatory compliance to address environmental challenges. Using knowledge from various scientific disciplines, the role may include the collection and synthesizing of samples and environmental data and recommend action based on data derived from measurements. 

 The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in the field preparation of project related technical documents including environmental summary reports, technical specifications, waste tracking, and as-built drawings for review.
  • Responsible for progressing tasks to a reasonable point, waiting for clarification opportunities, and then picking them back up with minimal reworking.
  • Coordinate with field personnel associated with environmental construction, OM&M, and remediation activities that will include soil sampling, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, wastewater sampling, excavation, vapor sampling, etc.
  • Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

 Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: 

  • HAZWOPER with Level B Experience
  • Graduate of a relevant Associates or Bachelor of Geology, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent program
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the environmental and construction field 
  • Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities and willing to relocate to the Springfield, Ohio Area 
  • Collaborate effectively with remote team members on various projects aspects
  • Must have strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and willingness to meet challenging deadlines 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
