Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City is looking for an inspiring and passionate teacher of French to join our high-performing academic team.

We are seeking an educator who can deliver engaging, challenging, and academically rigorous lessons that develop students’ confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

The role
Job title: Teacher of French
Reporting to: Head of Modern Foreign Languages / Deputy Head (Academics)
Teaching & learning
Plan and deliver outstanding French lessons that are engaging, challenging, and appropriately differentiated.
Develop students’ confidence and competence across speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Promote a strong emphasis on accurate language acquisition, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and effective communication.
Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages students to participate actively and take risks with their language learning.
Develop students’ understanding and appreciation of French-speaking cultures, communities, traditions, and contemporary issues.
Use a range of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to support effective language acquisition.
Set high expectations for academic achievement, behaviour, effort, and student progress.
Curriculum development & assessment
Deliver the French curriculum in line with the National Curriculum for England and the school’s academic standards and expectations.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum.
Plan schemes of work and learning experiences that build knowledge and skills progressively.
Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor student progress and inform future teaching.
Provide constructive and timely feedback that enables students to understand how they can improve.
Support students in preparing for relevant external examinations and qualifications, where appropriate.
Student engagement & enrichment
Inspire students to develop a lifelong interest in French language and culture.
Organise and contribute to language-related enrichment activities, competitions, trips, cultural events, and celebrations.
Encourage students to explore the wider Francophone world through authentic texts, media, literature, music, film, and current affairs.
Identify and nurture students who demonstrate particular aptitude or enthusiasm for languages.
Support opportunities for students to develop their language skills beyond the classroom.
Collaboration & professional development
Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Modern Foreign Languages department and across the wider school.
Contribute to cross-curricular and interdisciplinary learning opportunities where appropriate.
Share effective practice and contribute positively to departmental and whole-school initiatives.
Engage actively in professional development and remain current with developments in language teaching and educational practice.

Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s degree in French Language, Modern Foreign Languages, Education, or a related subject.
Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
At least 3 years of successful teaching experience, preferably within a British curriculum or international school environment.
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for French language and Francophone cultures.
Experience teaching French across a range of ages and abilities.
A strong understanding of effective language acquisition and modern language teaching methodologies.
Experience of curriculum planning, assessment, and tracking student progress.
Experience preparing students for external examinations or recognised language qualifications is desirable.
Familiarity with educational technology and digital resources to support language learning is desirable.
