Job Purpose
• Ensure and maintain a sound loan portfolio hence, minimizing loan losses and maximizing return on assets and shareholder’s equity.
• Recommend sound credit facilities after thorough evaluation of the credit worthiness and debt payment capacity of borrowers.
• Developing and spreading a credit culture within branch, through training, counselling and advising. Recommend action plans for overcoming observed weaknesses.
• Review credit policies and procedures on a periodical basis and recommend and implement changes where appropriate.
• Assist Branch Managers / Team Leaders to structure credit lines which meet the client’s business needs within acceptable risk criteria.
Key Result Areas
• Quality of loan portfolio, as measured by % of classified outstandings and hence, loan loss provisions, which has direct impact on Branch profitability.
• Volume of assigned portfolio.
• Minimize migration across risk grades.
• Early detection of warning signals to ensure timely corrective action.
• Maintain targeted turn around time.
• Volume of credit proposals processed.
• Minimize % of proposals returned / rejected by HO, which is a direct reflection of the quality of the proposals.
• Accompany Relationship Managers / Team Leaders on calls where necessary, to maintain an awareness of market and business conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• University Graduate. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum 10 – 15 years lending experience, of which 4 – 6 years at managerial level.
• High degree of lending skills (credit, analytical, judgement) across various industries / lines of business (Trade, Contracting, Industry).
• Excellent written / verbal communication skills.
